Smart Filter
Filo’s Smart Filter is front-loaded with a dedicated AI model that screens every incoming message the instant it hits your Gmail. No training period, no hand-built rules—just a clean feed of what actually matters.
What it does
Why it’s better
Where the rest goes
Reads the message plus key metadata—sender, subject, body—and decides: “Is this essential?”
You open Filo and see only work-critical or life-critical mail—no mental triage required.
Messages that don’t make the cut drop automatically into Updates (receipts, notifications), Promotions (ads, newsletters), or stay visible in All for later.
Runs the classification in real time—filtering and delivery happen at the same moment.
Important never fills with promos you’ll delete later; context-switching stays near zero.
Because these tabs exist, nothing is lost—just neatly muted until you need it.
How it beats other “priority” views
Most email clients rely on static heuristics (bulk-send flags, marketing domains). Filo taps an AI model that inspects the full content of each message, so the difference between a client brief and a travel voucher is obvious from day one—no rule-writing, no probation period.
One lean Important tab worthy of its name, plus quiet side buckets—ready when you want them, invisible when you don’t.
New: Smart Filter (your custom rules)
On top of Filo’s automatic AI triage, you can now create Smart Filter rules to tell Filo exactly how to handle certain messages—think of it like Shortcuts on iPhone for your inbox.

How it works
Each rule has two parts:
If (trigger condition)
Enter a condition such as a sender, domain, keyword, subject phrase, or a time condition.
Do this (actions)
Choose one or more actions to run the moment a message matches the trigger.
Available actions (can be combined):
Label As → pick any label (e.g., Important, Updates, Promotions, or your custom labels)
Star it
Skip the inbox (Archive it)
Move to Trash
Move to Spam
Mark as Read
You can create as many rules as you like. If no rule matches, Filo’s default AI triage still applies—so you always get a clean Important feed by default.
Quick recipes (examples)
Auto-file receipts
If subject contains “receipt” or “invoice” → Label As: Updates + Mark as Read.
Tidy newsletters
If sender domain contains “newsletter.example.com” or message contains “unsubscribe” → Label As: Promotions + Skip the inbox.
Never miss VIPs
If sender is your CEO or a key client domain → Star it + Label As: Important.
Quiet the noise
If subject contains “tracking” or “order shipped” → Label As: Updates + Skip the inbox.
Good to know
AI first, then your rules: Filo still decides what’s Important by default. Your rules add precise control for the edge cases you care about.
Nothing is lost: Even when archived or auto-labeled, every message remains searchable and visible in All and in its label.
Fast by design: Rules and AI classification run at delivery—no delay, no manual maintenance.
